Follow your guide underground to see the remains of Roman Cologne. Delve into 2000 years of history and explore Cologne’s origins beneath the old town, when the street level was several meters below the one of today. You will see some of the many excavations that have remained visible: the remains of the Roman city wall, the foundations of the Praetorium (palace of the Roman governor) and the 150m long stretch of the ancient Roman sewer system.
Many of Cologne’s most important attractions are located within one square kilometer around the gothic Cathedral. In the Old Town you will pass the Old Market and the Romanesque Great St. Martins Church. This will give you a feeling of the most interesting facets of Cologne’s past and present.
